Tutorial - Fix most Joystick problems - K700, K750
At last, this anoying joystick problem I had with my SonyEricsson K700i is a thing of the past. I cleaned out the region around the joystick before, and it did help, but I didn't try this more aggressive approach. I actually didn't have one of those spray cleaner cans, but I poured some alcohol cleaning solution over the joystick and blew it clean. Just watch out for your screen though. But my joystick is almost perfect again ;)
It was just dirty after all.
SMF SEF urls
Testing out the latest version of the SMF forum. The standard installation have no problems with crawlers. You do need incoming links from somewhere though. GoogleBot was crawling less than a day after installation, although there were already some pages from that domain that were in the google index. I didn't submit a sitemap or do anything special other than getting inbound links.
The 'SEF links' option in SMF looks like it is useless now and only needed if you want some ancient stupid bots that don't like dynamic content. But those are probably not worth worrying about.
Also been trying the pretty urls mod for SMF. While it won't make a difference to the bots, the keywords in the urls might make a difference. Only downside I see is the duplicate content from earlier indexed urls, but 301 redirects should fix that. Because the standard urls look more dynamic, google might prefer the pretty urls more. Don't know if urls might get too long with this mod, will have to check.
Will try an unknown domain with a clean install next.

Arcade Fire's new album, Neon Bible. Sounds really, really good. Remember to buy the album if you download it somewhere ;)
Googlepedia
Now this is something you can't do in Internet Explorer ;)
Really cool. You can even minimize it if you don't want to see it. Or expand it to the whole page.

SNO becomes Neotel
At last some much needed progress. Only time will tell if it is enough to be meaningful for South Africans and internet connectivity. At least we are in with some chance now. Hopefully it won't take another 5 years for any real cost reductions. Internet is still very much only for the minority of South Africans...
Telkom files for overall price reduction to ICASA….ADSL rates come down!
Telkom files for overall price reduction to ICASA....ADSL rates come down! - MyADSL
Really? It amazes me how Telkom always manages to reduce prices in such a way that there is almost no cost savings to the customer in the end. Big deal, so some people are going to save R20 to R50 a month on ADSL. It is still more than ~R250 for the entry level 192 kbps line rental. That is R250 more than it should be. There is still outrageous bandwidth prices and caps. ADSL still will cost you more than ~R500 a month and it will still be only 192 kbps and a 3GB cap.
People that can afford ADSL will now pay less, but those who can't afford it will still be without a decent internet connection. That is not real progress.
ISP's will also not benefit from these reductions.
Good thing it's only proposed reductions...
